Safety: Family, Youth and Individuals

Welcome to VERIFYI! Created by VolunteerNow in 1994 through support from the Texas State Legislature, VERIFYI is the most comprehensive criminal background check to date. This risk-management software provides nonprofits with a low-cost method of screening volunteer or perspective employee backgrounds. Minimize your agency's risk!

More than one million background checks have been performed since VERIFYI's inception and 300 million records have been searched. Texas Volunteer Centers are the only institutions outside of municipal governments and school districts with access to the state’s Department of Public Safety records.

Our extensive search includes:
Multi-jurisdictional Records:
Most state records show offenses and convictions committed in certain states. Information is taken from the Department of Corrections Records, Sexual Offense Records, Department of Public Safety Records, Bureau of Investigations records or Administrator of the Courts records where applicable. At the present time 42 states offer access to Multi-jurisdictional Records; some states do not report (Colorado, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming).
National Database Search of Sex Offender Records:
This scans databases from around the country to find any record of arrest, convictions or sexual offenses against adults, children and certain sexual contact and other crimes against victims who are minors. Sex Offender Records are available from ALL 50 States and Washington, D.C.
Social Security Trace:
This report helps to ensure that the person being checked is, in fact, who they say they are by confirming the Social Security Number and giving historical information on past residences.
Texas State Records:
This typically includes all prior arrests and convictions, including adjudicated records, juvenile offenses and outstanding warrants committed in Texas. Information is reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and available to Texas Volunteer Centers by law.
